The Vision Quest
"I experienced my first vision quest, or spirit walk, in 1997 in the White Mountains of Arizona. During this quest I was physically visited by my spirit animal, the black panther. Since this time, the panther has been my companion and guardian, and constant reminder of the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds."
In some Native American cultures, the panther symbolizes embracing the unknown and flowing with the mystery that is unfolding in one's life.
Description
A vision quest is a turning point in life taken to find oneself and the intended spiritual and life direction. It is a personal, spiritual quest in nature, often in conjunction with a period of fasting, that helps one release the bounds to the physical world. During the vision quest a guardian animal, spirit teacher, or force of nature will come in a vision or dream, and give guidance for one's life. This practice is a cornerstone in Native American rites of passage. Journeys in Consciousness offers the spirit of the Vision Quest in different formats each designed to tap into your inner knowledge and connect you to the consciousness of nature.
During this retreat you will experience time on you own to connect with nature and begin the visioning process, personal processing with the facilitator, and group interactions through drumming, guided meditation, and energy balancing work. The heart of this work is to help bring into focus what is useful, productive, and visionary for one's life. It is a beginning process of cutting away what is no longer needed, releasing through compassion, and receiving the spiritual guidance needed to move forward in a mindful and conscious way.
The Vision Quest retreat is appropriate for all levels including the novice and those with experience in meditation, visioning, or other types of spiritual practice.
